This Privacy Policy explains how Vizua s. r. o. ("we," "us") handles information in connection with the Crucial Announcement Bar app (the "App") for Shopify. The App is installed by Shopify merchants to display announcement bars on their storefronts and to view anonymous, aggregate engagement statistics. The App does not collect personal information about your store's visitors.
1.Who we are
Vizua s. r. o., Lazovná 38, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. For any privacy question, contact us at support@vizua.sk.
2.Information we process
Store and account data. When you install the App, Shopify provides, and we store: your store's myshopify.com domain, store ID, timezone, install and uninstall timestamps, and an access token used to call Shopify APIs on your behalf. We also store the announcement bars you create (their text, styling, scheduling, and placement settings) and your subscription status (plan, trial and renewal dates, and a Shopify charge identifier). We do not receive or store payment card details — billing is handled entirely by Shopify.
Storefront engagement statistics. When a banner is shown on your storefront, the App records anonymous events (impressions, clicks, dismissals, and coupon-code copies) associated with a banner ID. These events contain no names, emails, IP addresses, cookies, or other identifiers, and cannot be linked to an individual visitor.
Visitor device storage. So a visitor is not shown a banner they have already dismissed, the App stores a small flag in the visitor's own browser (localStorage). This stays on the visitor's device and is not transmitted to or collected by us.
Country detection (only if you use country targeting). If you configure a banner to target specific countries and your store does not use Shopify Markets, the App determines the visitor's country from their IP address at page load. The IP address is used only to derive a country code in that moment and is not stored. This lookup runs on our own servers using an offline database, so the IP address is never sent to a third party. Stores using Shopify Markets do not trigger any IP processing.
Technical and diagnostic data. Our servers generate standard logs and error reports (such as timestamps, error messages, and your store domain) to operate, secure, and debug the App. These do not include storefront visitor data.
3.How we use information
- To provide and operate the App's features — creating, displaying, scheduling, and targeting your banners.
- To show you analytics about how your banners perform.
- To process your subscription and apply plan limits.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, debug, and improve reliability.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4.Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we process store and account data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), and we process technical data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. Anonymous statistics are not personal data.
5.Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the App:
- Shopify — app platform, authentication, and billing.
- DigitalOcean (via Laravel Forge) — server hosting in the European Union.
- Sentry — server-side error monitoring.
We may also disclose information where required by law.
6.Data location and transfers
Our servers are hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). Where data is processed outside your region by a service provider, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7.Data retention
- Raw storefront events are retained for up to 7 days and then deleted; only anonymous daily totals are kept to power your analytics.
- Store, banner, and subscription data are retained while the App is installed.
- When you uninstall, we delete your store's data after we receive Shopify's
shop/redactrequest (approximately 48 hours after uninstall). We also honor Shopify'scustomers/redactandcustomers/data_requestrequests.
8.Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and scoped access tokens. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9.Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@vizua.sk. You can also delete all data we hold by uninstalling the App. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10.Children
The App is a business tool. It is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice within the App.
